Bad Romance for this murky and overcast Sunday 🙂 Also we’re on our fourth day of the Lippmann week!

I apologize for these swatch posts, my camera refuses to capture the beauty that is Bad Romance. Some of you who have been following me from my early posts may have seen this one already. In fact, it’s the only polish to actually get featured twice!

I recommend clicking to make ’em bigger so you can see the glitter and whatnot. Bad Romance is my first Lippmann and definitely my first expensive, “high end” polish 🙂 It was gifted to me by my lovely friend Liane on my birthday in February. These pictures pull too dark purple though, Bad Romance’s glitter is a bit on the dark fuchsia side if I were to say… They definitely have a lot of pink in their purple-ness, not a true purple like these pictures want to show.

Also it’s only this formula that I have experienced shrinkage from Seche Vite. Also, this was about three coats. Bad Romance is a dark purple hexagonal glitter with small glitter suspended in a sheer/translucent black jelly base.

Broke out the matte topcoat! Aw yeah 😉

Today we have Deborah Lippmann Superstar, featured for the third day of the Lippmann theme week (and a day)!!

Sup?

Superstar is another lovely dense glitter. It has small dark brown and copper flecks of glitter suspended in a light brown/espresso jelly base. I like this one, it’s a sophisticated color.

The only problem I had with this was that it’s very very gritty. I had two thick coats of Seche Vite, and you could still feel the bumpiness (not the rough sort.)

Then of course I had to… Break out the matte topcoat! I used Essie Matte About You in this one.

I like this effect, the gold/copper was brought out a lot. The dark espresso base wasn’t so overpowering anymore.

Enjoy 🙂

Razzle Dazzle, ready to go in line! This is the second day of my Lippmann theme week (and a day).
It’s a lovely ruby red shimmer/small glitter suspended in an extremely vampy raspberry base. Fitting for a Friday, I think, however I spent this evening watching L’Abbe de L’Epee, an awesomely funny satire.
Spam! Not the canned kind. What? You hungry or something?

Check out this! It required about three coats, but that’s because I wanted things to be all even and nice. Three coats for polish doesn’t bother me as it might for some people.
What’d I do next then, after wearing this all day? Broke out the matte topcoat of course! (Probably much to the chagrin of my cousin Shauna, who believes matte polish should be banned from using on polish like this.)
Nee ner nee ner, I actually like the matte version a little bit more better.  I’m weird like that!
In my humble opinion, it brings out the sparkles. This picture pulls way too purple though.
Thumb closeup. Please excuse the cuticles, the tiny glitter made it a biatch to clean up.

After sporting my Lippmann polish today, I realized a very important thing….

I have amassed eight Deborah Lippmann polishes. (I was also an idiot and told my nail fanatic friend that I had seven, but it’s eight. Because I didn’t count today.) So naturally, I promptly declared, on Beej’s Nails, today to be the start of

Deborah Lippmann Week!(and a day)
To kick off this week, we have Across the Universe standing in the front of the polish line! Look– isn’t she proud to be first?
Gorgeous, gorgeous blue and green hexagonal glitter suspended in a sea of black jelly with slight duo-chromatic shimmer.
Hell yes.

Just showing off my engagement ring. hee!

My camera is kinda poopoo, so if you google this you will see a hella lot better swatch photos. After wearing it all day today, I had to matte it down of course (and plus a new matte topcoat came in, Butter London’s and I think I love it.)

Isn’t it awesome? It really brings out the glitter and sparkles.
Stay tuned for tomorrow! We’ll be featuring the lovely lady, Razzle Dazzle.
