The nails you see below is belongs to the lovely Victoria! She loves the houndstooth pattern, so I told her I’d stamp it on her, and she came over with bare nails and left with…

Orly Charged Up, with Wet N Wild Black Creme stamped in the houndstooth pattern.

Bundle Monster nail art wheels!! Little rhinestones, bullion beads, sequins…

Obviously I ripped off my mani and started a new one!

Orly Purple Pleather. Check out the interesting finish– not so quite matte, but more “plastic”

The hearts is from the BM nail wheel, and the bling on the edges of my nails as a funky french, is Milani Silver

I picked this up at a Sally’s because I was looking for a nail treatment (More specifically OPI Nail Envy but I digress) last month. I used it everyday for about a week, and noticed an increase in peeling and splitting!! So I put it away, opted for another base coat instead.
Two days ago I reached for this again– just to see. My nails do have a tendency to split and peel but I was feeling like this nail treatment increased it. So for the few weeks in between of not using this product, I didn’t really have any extra splitting/peeling. I used this under Lippmann’s Bad Romance and yesterday all day I was having my nails chip, PEEL and a piece broke off my thumbnail =\ It was NOT pretty.

The only thing that I liked about it was that it dries kind of stickily so that means it’s good for being a base coat but my nails don’t like it. Has it worked for anyone else?

It’s a cute concept but WHY is it that the white-out color of white polishes are always runny, globby (yeah I made up a word what what) in the wrong places and really hard to work with?
Orly Pointe Blanche and China Glaze Snow come to mind. Not to mention this awful French tip kit I had from Avon, during my high school years. However THAT applied like a dream on my mom, but that’s because she had insanely long, naturally white and strong nails that didn’t really need help from the french tip kit.

Anyway… Bare Rose was sheer– VERY sheer, but it matched the color of my natural nail bed so I guess that was the point. You can’t even see it in this picture, because it looks SO natural. Formula was GREAT.
Pointe Blanche, as I’ve complained, was runny and globby. It got EVERYWHERE on my fingertips, and sometimes ran underneath the french tip guides.

I didn’t find the french tip guides difficult to apply, but there is definitely a learning curve (haha here’s a pun!) to applying them. A few of my nails’ tips were painted on a bit crookedly but only a real anal eye would see it… (Thanks for your input, Nick!) I also found that I could reuse the guides twice, sometimes for a third if I was patient and took my time. This would definitely help the guides last longer. You don’t have to use a new guide for each nail. There’s only about 52 stickers in this. Why did they end in two I don’t know, you’d think they’d end in ten’s right? Oh well.

This kit also made me realize that my left hand fingernails grow a hella lot faster than my right.

Overall rating? I don’t know… Three out of five? I wasn’t thrilled with it, it didn’t blow my socks off, but it did it’s job.

Been a tad busy, so there’s a backlog of photos to be posted which might result in a little spam. I apologize in advance.

I got this French Duet package from Orly, which I will be doing a little product review comment thing soon but anyway here is my nails, with the “french tip” look… Excuse the messy application, it was extremely hard to clean up! The white french tip polish was v. runny and a lot of trouble for me.

This is my best hand. Anyway after having a few hours on this mani, I felt it was way TOOOOOO plain… Solution? Glitter, of course.

I liked it a lot better after that particular addition 🙂

On a side note… want to see what happened when I decided to forgo base coat?

That’s right, BLUE thumbnail!! 😦 It even went on to show up in my left hand’s french which is shown next…

Frankly it’s still there and this manicure was done last week. 😦 I forgone the base coat because I was in a hurry and wanted to post that Shatter video and well. Shouldn’t have huh!

Green: Orly Meet Me Under the Mistletoe; Purple: China Glaze Flying Dragon (neon); gold: Orly Glitz & Glamour. Definitely my favorite mani so far– it just looks great with my skin tone, however the purple is not correct on my monitor. It’s a lot more vibrant. Oh well.

This manicure was chosen by Nick, when I told him to pick colors he gave me three and said “Welcome to Mardi Gras!” So looks like Mardi Gras is in January? 😛

I love sparkly green. Layered over the purple, it’s difficult to spot the green in real life– people thought it was teal or black.

Check out the pink and blue sparkly goodness.

In this picture you can see how the Flying Dragon really dried– it’s a neon with pink/blue shimmer that dries matte. Weird! I hemmed and hawed for a minute or two about applying topcoat, because it would detract the matte– or perhaps I could just put topcoat on the green/gold. Liane pointed out that Flying Dragon really is gorgeous with a topcoat, and I hesitantly put it on, and loved it. I wonder what you think? Should I have gone with a more mixed media approach?
