RevlonJustTinted-bottle-spread
Revlon released a line of four extremely sheer, berry-colored jelly polishes that pretty much “stain” your nails. They call it a “tint” though. It comes with four matching lip stain/balm combo collections called “Bitten”. This entire shebang has a very Twilight theme, and it doesn’t help that Jessica Biel does this commercial for Revlon’s lip stains, where she looks at the camera and says, seductively(!) “Have you been Bitten?” right after making out with a smoking hot guy that looks suspiciously like Edward.

SO! I found this line interesting, albeit not for me. I had to slap on fake nails because my real nails are STAINED and just looks gross under sheer polish. Thanks random green polish I tried on a few weeks ago. Ugh!

All the polishes are at two coats, but I’ve demonstrated some at one coat just for sake of research. They dry to a very satiny finish, definitely soaking into your nails. I really had application issues, it’s hard to even out sheer polishes and jelly polishes and when you combine the two… well.. I tried my best! It definitely builds color the more coats you go.
If the “stained”/matte finish is not for you, well, luckily Revlon also released a special shiny topcoat that gives them this wet luster that’s pretty attractive.

Let’s start with the finish. This is Victorian, at one coat and dry.
Victorian-onecoat
You can see the “tinted” effect Revlon was talking about.

Victorian-TwoCoats
This is at two coats. Victorian is a berry pink- between purple and pink.
Victorian-Fingers
It does kind of look nice with my skin tone. Too bad these aren’t my real nails! LOL.
Victorian-TOpcoat
With the topcoat. You can see the juicy finish that’s happening.
VictorianTopcoatFingers
Looks wet! I’d be afraid to touch them for days 😉

Mystical
Mystical is a dark berry– I’d say it looks grape.
Mystical-Fingers
Mystical-Topcoat
The topcoat definitely lightened this color up some.

Desire-Bottle
Desire is a bright pink.
Desire-Fingers
I liked this one a lot.

I can’t get over the juiciness! It’s just an interesting finish. Jelly polishes are usually wet looking or “shiny” but this topcoat takes it a bit differently.

Dawn-Bottle
Dawn is the most different from everyone– it’s a peach!

With topcoat. I love it, it looks like a tangerine color.

Nails of the Days, that is. I don’t really do them– I just post ’em as manicures, but I guess they would be categorized as Nails of the Day. Anywho. I’ve been focused on the Lippmann glitters for the last 9 days, I overlooked a manicure from back then. So this post will show you two manis, one from the past and one that I’m sporting now.

Base: Butter London Victoriana (light teal glitter)
Stamp: Sally Hansen Chrome in… something I forgot, it was a long time ago. But it’s a gold chrome.
Konad plate m78

Current manicure:

Base: Avon Electric Green, a light spring grass green jelly. About three coats to get it all evened out.
Stamping color: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Jumpin’ Jade
Plate: Bundle Monster BM19

For this unpredictable Tuesday, we have Lippmann’s Lady Sings the Blues. We are also near the end of our theme week 🙂 This morning it was HOT and then it suddenly rained and now it’s all nice and cool. Sigh. Way to go, DC.

Doesn’t she look promising? Silvery/blue duochrome hex glitter with small round glitter suspended in a black jelly base. All the photos are about two-three coats, I forget. Definitely over two, at least if not exactly two.
I really liked this one, it was easy to pick up the glitter and distribute it. Bad Romance gave me a little trouble– it would deposit a lot of hex glitter in one spot and then nothing for the next nail, etc requiring me to use a little more coats than usual.

Also looked great! I’m sorry these pictures are a bit dark D:
I applied this last night, and when I saw it I knew I had to… mattify it! Sorry cousin! I wore it like this for the whole day today:

Really– can you hate this?! I think it looks even better mattifyed. The other Lippmanns either looked equally good, or kind of strange (in the case of Bad Romance).

But this one… Meant to be matte!

Bad Romance for this murky and overcast Sunday 🙂 Also we’re on our fourth day of the Lippmann week!

I apologize for these swatch posts, my camera refuses to capture the beauty that is Bad Romance. Some of you who have been following me from my early posts may have seen this one already. In fact, it’s the only polish to actually get featured twice!

I recommend clicking to make ’em bigger so you can see the glitter and whatnot. Bad Romance is my first Lippmann and definitely my first expensive, “high end” polish 🙂 It was gifted to me by my lovely friend Liane on my birthday in February. These pictures pull too dark purple though, Bad Romance’s glitter is a bit on the dark fuchsia side if I were to say… They definitely have a lot of pink in their purple-ness, not a true purple like these pictures want to show.

Also it’s only this formula that I have experienced shrinkage from Seche Vite. Also, this was about three coats. Bad Romance is a dark purple hexagonal glitter with small glitter suspended in a sheer/translucent black jelly base.

Broke out the matte topcoat! Aw yeah 😉

After sporting my Lippmann polish today, I realized a very important thing….

I have amassed eight Deborah Lippmann polishes. (I was also an idiot and told my nail fanatic friend that I had seven, but it’s eight. Because I didn’t count today.) So naturally, I promptly declared, on Beej’s Nails, today to be the start of

Deborah Lippmann Week!(and a day)
To kick off this week, we have Across the Universe standing in the front of the polish line! Look– isn’t she proud to be first?
Gorgeous, gorgeous blue and green hexagonal glitter suspended in a sea of black jelly with slight duo-chromatic shimmer.
Hell yes.

Just showing off my engagement ring. hee!

My camera is kinda poopoo, so if you google this you will see a hella lot better swatch photos. After wearing it all day today, I had to matte it down of course (and plus a new matte topcoat came in, Butter London’s and I think I love it.)

Isn’t it awesome? It really brings out the glitter and sparkles.
Stay tuned for tomorrow! We’ll be featuring the lovely lady, Razzle Dazzle.
