I was inspired by Emerald Sparkled’s look, and created something similar.

Sorry for the crap photo quality, but this is the most color accurate photo I could get of Essie Turquoise & Caicos, a color that my camera insists is blue. But my Flip camera sees otherwise!

This is okay, but not spot on.
I painted on Essie Lapis of Luxury and Essie Turquoise & Caicos, skittle style first. Then I painted the other color on the base using a little paint brush. 🙂

So every now and then Nick likes to give me weird ideas for a manicure, and I have to carry them out. Part of our deal for him allowing me to have so many polish! 😛 His inspiration this time?

A heart shaped, silk covered box of chocolates from Godiva that he bought for me yesterday, Valentine’s Day 🙂

Hard to see isn’t it?? What I did was set a base red, then make a thick stripe with a shimmery red, then stamped over it with a stripe pattern from one of my BM plates and then lastly a very dark red for the rose. It’s a very textured look that my camera won’t pick up. 😦 You can see the stamping pattern in my middle finger nail if you look to the left of the rose.

Colors used: (all China Glaze) Salsa for the base, Red Stallion for the shimmery stripe, Thunderbird for the stamp, Naughty and Nice for the rose stamp.

Sorry ’bout the lobster hands. Something about this color combined with my artificial lamp made my camera go “Oh hell naw.”

This is OPI’s Here Today… Aragon Tomorrow in Suede finish, with Wet N Wild Black Creme for the dots. I had an idea of the military jacket, with the buttons on the side and when I completed it it came out just the way I envisioned… Scary! When I showed it to Nick, he said “I like it! It reminds me of a army jacket, maybe a peacoat with buttons…” I love how his vocabulary has grown by dating me.

Slightly more accurate color swatch, if you’re interested, and a close up to help you get an idea of the suede finish.

Nick made me practice with my left hand… He was tired of my left hand being perfect, while the right would be a little “special.” So he offered himself, and with Wet N Wild Black Creme and a white nail polish pen from Claire’s, I diligently practiced on his hands and came up with a math theme since he’s a math major 🙂

They’re all different formulas, and math symbols, and on the top index/middle fingers are the numbers from 1 to 7.  Remember these were made with my left hand…

I drew a really great graph on his thumb but he painted glitter over it for no good reason. When he saw my shocked face he said “Oh it’s okay! I’ll just wipe it off!!!” and grabbed a tissue, then promptly destroyed the whole thing. Sigh… Men and how they think they know everything. So that’s why there are no thumb pictures.

A quick pic of what my toes look like at the moment. I usually do my nails free hand, but I need to start incorporating tape for cleaner lines I know…
The silver is Orly Tiara, and the blue is Orly Witch’s Blue.

I am kinda feeling blue these days aren’t I? LOL

I originally wanted to do all nails different shades of blue, for the upcoming Blue Monday… or whatever. Then I felt it was too blah, and wanted black on it. But I feel like I’ve done too much polka dots– that’s kind of my default pattern. So I did a stripe down my nails, I was thinking of race tracks.. When I looked at it I realized, rather creepily, that they looked like eyes. After a few minutes of admiring it, I decided I needed more bling. So I broke out Claire’s glitter striping polish and voila.

That’s my creative process folks 😉
Black striping for all of the nails is Wet N Wild Black Creme– great polish. Full, black (not brownish black) coverage in one layer.  All the other polishes are China Glaze colors.

Left hand, from the Pinky to Thumb: Bermuda Breakaway; For Audrey; Sexy in the City; Sea Spray; Calypso Blue.
Calypso Blue is a very dark midnight blue, I’d say it’s a true midnight blue. I added the black stripe and realized I had a very hard time distinguishing the dark blue/black so that’s how the glitter stripe idea was born 😉 The difference is there however, Calypso Blue has the blue base, it’s not a black based blue.

Right hand, from the Pinky to Thumb: Caribbean Blue; Midnight Mission; Bahamian Escape; Rodeo Fanatic; Shower Together.

I was concerned that Midnight Mission and Rodeo Fanatic looked similar in the first photo, so here’s a closeup and a comparison. You can see they are not similar at all.

I got in a discussion with Nick about For Audrey and Sea Spray– He was convinced they looked exactly the same. A quick poll of my three roommates proved otherwise. As you can see Sea Spray is a grey based light blue, while For Audrey has much more green in it. I’m not sure why I willingly spend 10 minutes arguing with a color blind guy but there you have my Sunday.
