Liane mentioned how she might have picked up a dupe for Last Friday Night from OPI’s Katy Perry collection, from our Rite-Aid. Being curious, I invited her over for a dupe party.

Here is OPI Katy Perry and Sinful Colors’ Hottie side by side:

 Similar isn’t it?

It’s obvious that Last Friday Night’s glitter is more chunkier and dense than Hottie, but the same jelly base and sparkles are present.

Hottie, Last Friday Night, Hottie. Pretty damn similar in my opinion! Hottie is a lot more shimmery while Last Friday Night has the glitter down. I don’t think anyone would ever wear these by themselves, so if layered I believe the effect would be identical.
So if you don’t want to pay eBay scalpers for LFN since it’s sold out every freakin’ where, Sinful Colors is a pretty good alternative (only 2 bucks a bottle… yeah I’d say it’s a good alternative)

My cousin wanted to see how the OPI Shatter worked, so here’s a video of it in action! 🙂 The magic really does happen before your eyes, this is just so neat

A quick pic of what my toes look like at the moment. I usually do my nails free hand, but I need to start incorporating tape for cleaner lines I know…
The silver is Orly Tiara, and the blue is Orly Witch’s Blue.

I am kinda feeling blue these days aren’t I? LOL

I originally wanted to do all nails different shades of blue, for the upcoming Blue Monday… or whatever. Then I felt it was too blah, and wanted black on it. But I feel like I’ve done too much polka dots– that’s kind of my default pattern. So I did a stripe down my nails, I was thinking of race tracks.. When I looked at it I realized, rather creepily, that they looked like eyes. After a few minutes of admiring it, I decided I needed more bling. So I broke out Claire’s glitter striping polish and voila.

That’s my creative process folks 😉
Black striping for all of the nails is Wet N Wild Black Creme– great polish. Full, black (not brownish black) coverage in one layer.  All the other polishes are China Glaze colors.

Left hand, from the Pinky to Thumb: Bermuda Breakaway; For Audrey; Sexy in the City; Sea Spray; Calypso Blue.
Calypso Blue is a very dark midnight blue, I’d say it’s a true midnight blue. I added the black stripe and realized I had a very hard time distinguishing the dark blue/black so that’s how the glitter stripe idea was born 😉 The difference is there however, Calypso Blue has the blue base, it’s not a black based blue.

Right hand, from the Pinky to Thumb: Caribbean Blue; Midnight Mission; Bahamian Escape; Rodeo Fanatic; Shower Together.

I was concerned that Midnight Mission and Rodeo Fanatic looked similar in the first photo, so here’s a closeup and a comparison. You can see they are not similar at all.

I got in a discussion with Nick about For Audrey and Sea Spray– He was convinced they looked exactly the same. A quick poll of my three roommates proved otherwise. As you can see Sea Spray is a grey based light blue, while For Audrey has much more green in it. I’m not sure why I willingly spend 10 minutes arguing with a color blind guy but there you have my Sunday.

Here we have a OPI Russian Navy in Suede. Suede is an interesting finish and I love this– it’s between matte and shimmer, it has the texture of matte but is still glossy. I painted on a top coat on the very edges– trying to make a glossy french tip kind of look, but it’s really hard to detect because of the suede finish. You kind of have to *look* for it.

And my thumbnail broke.. 😦 I hate the winter!! I am totally blaming Orly Nail Defense as well– I don’t believe my nails peel or break this easily.
